MINI PILING

Piling is the most versatile way of strengthening a building’s foundation, and mini piles are increasingly used for projects involving domestic properties and those with restricted access.Mini piles have a narrower diameter than standard piles, but are able to support considerable loads. The most common mini piling type is a hollow steel shaft that is either screwed or drilled in to the ground, supporting the surrounding soil. Grout or concrete is then poured inside, forming the pile. Unlike boring, mini piling requires no additional supports, even in weak soil. Some of the advantages of mini piling include:

  • Very strong under both tension and compression
  • Fast install (depending on ground conditions)
  • Possible to create building extensions in tight spaces that wouldn’t normally be possible
  • Installation causes minimal vibration/disturbance to adjacent structures
  • More cost effective than other foundation solutions
  • Can be incorporated into existing foundation systems
  • Work in low headroom and restricted access spaces
  • Reduced carbon footprint through lower usage of concrete
